In short, I believe that the ignition switch is bad.
It even works through the ignition, imagine that! So, my simple mind thinks the problem must have been the head unit. BTW, the install was very easy and B**t B*y was the worst for buying the Alpine and the satellite radio tuner, etc. It took two trips to get that right but the local shop had no problems.:thumbsup:

Move the shift around a little see if it starts after. 2 Ignition switch broken ar damaged wite on rear of the switch . 3 Car alarm or imobiliser . Me i would look at ignition switch first.

My 2008 c350 was having ESL/EIS issues. I took out my ignition switch with keyfob and ESL module and sent it to a service I purchased on EBay for $400 USD. The service sent back to me my ignition switch, keyfob, and new emulator module coded to my keyfob and ignition switch. I reinstalled everything again myself and now the issue is fixed forever.
